Famalicao vs Belenenses Predictions

Belenenses have frustrated better teams than Famalicao

Belenenses probably lack the belief to get a win against relegation rivals Famalicao on Wednesday, but recent defensive improvements could keep the scoring down.

The visitors have been struggling at both ends of the pitch recently, conceding eleven and failing to score once in their last four Primeira Liga outings. But there were extenuating circumstances around the seven they shipped at home to Benfica because the Covid-hit hosts were forced to play with only nine men.

Since that game, which could yet be replayed, Filipe Cândido’s men have conceded only two goals – one in each of their 1-0 defeats to fourth-placed Braga and fifth-placed Estoril. This trip to Vila Nova de Famalicão represents their best chance of picking up points in two months and they are sure to set up to be difficult to beat.

Goals on short supply in relegation battle

The home team have not been in great form of late either and were eliminated in the cup by Portimonense last time out in their first game under new coach Rui Pedro Silva. With just three goals scored in their last five home league games, this looks like a game for the ‘unders’.

However, there’s probably more merit in backing both teams not to score in this one because it’s landed in six of the last seven Belenenses games and there’s always the chance that one or both teams could be denied the services of some key players at the last minute again.

Two of the last three meetings have finished 0-0, which looks like a solid pick in correct score betting too.
