FC Cincinnati vs Real Salt Lake Predictions

Cincinnati have gone three games without a win, but will fancy their chances of picking up three points this weekend when they play host to a Real Salt Lake side that have lost four of their last six matches. However, the visitors ended their losing streak last time out with a victory at home to Orlando City.

Cincinnati were played off the park at the Banc of California Stadium by LAFC last weekend, where goals from Kaye and Vela saw the hosts claim a 2-0 victory. Cincinnati only had 42% of the possession and managed just two shots on target during the ninety minutes, so a much improved performance is need on Saturday. Johnson handed Real Salt Lake the lead at home to Orlando City in the seventeenth minute, and teammate Kreilach doubled the hosts advantage early in the second half. Nani pulled a goal back for the visitors late on, but Real Salt Lake held firm to earn just their second win of the season.

As there is no head to head record to go on, our prediction for Saturday’s game is based on the performances of Cincinnati and Real Salt Lake in the MLS over the last month or so. We’re expecting a tight and tense game between two clubs that haven’t won many matches this season, with an increased chance of under 2.5 goals being scored. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in five of Cincinnati’s and in two of Real Salt Lake’s last six matches. The hosts have draw two of their last six matches, and both teams have only won two of their last six in the MLS. Cincinnati have only failed to score in two of their last six matches, while Real Salt Lake have only failed to score in two of their last six matches, which suggests both teams have a good chance of scoring on Saturday. We feel that a draw is a good predicted for this match as both teams are struggling for win in the early stages of the season, and expect under 2.5 goals to be scored as Cincinnati don’t score or concede a lot of goals.

The hosts have a selection of players on one league goal this season and could really do with one of their strikers hitting a purple patch in front of goal. Kreilach and Rusnák joint top score for the visitors with two goals apiece in the MLS this season, but should find it tough against a strong Cincinnati defence this weekend. We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored on Saturday, and have predicted a final score of 1-1. Both teams have been struggling for consistency and wins in the early stages of the new season, each performing to very similar standards so far, which is why we believe they will cancel each other out on Saturday.
