Draw

Reason for tip

There is nothing left to play for in this group with Copenhagen already eliminated and Dortmund having made it to the round of 16. We’re going for a draw in this dead rubber contest.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Copenhagen have already held Manchester City and Sevilla to goalless draws here this season and they can make that 3/3 against Dortmund, although they may finally concede a goal in pursuit of that third point.

FC Copenhagen vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions

  • All four places are already confirmed in this group, giving this game little meaning.
  • Both of Copenhagen’s home group games ended goalless.
  • Dortmund are without a number of key players for their trip to Denmark.

A lacklustre finale in Copenhagen

With everything in Group G already settled, this game is simply a formality for Copenhagen and Dortmund. The hosts have already been eliminated whilst Dortmund will finish in second place no matter what, suggesting that we could be in for a drab encounter to round out the group.

Copenhagen have already held Manchester City and Sevilla to goalless draws here in this group stage, so putting in a solid defensive showing against higher quality sides is not beyond the Danes. In fact, Dortmund are expected to field a somewhat weakened XI here with a number of players out with injury.

Edin Terzic’s men have put together consecutive Bundesliga wins to keep in touch with the leaders yet this game could be seen as a distraction to that aim, so rotating to rest even more key players would surprise few and perhaps feeds into the narrative that this will be a typical low-scoring dead rubber.

Sharing the spoils

With nothing on the line, we’re predicting that this game will end level and with Dortmund entering this clash as hot favourites, the price is pushed out further for the draw.

However, we’re going against the grain and backing a 1-1 draw in the correct score market, Copenhagen may finally let a home goal past them in this final group encounter now that they’re already eliminated, but they could have enough quality to hold a Dortmund that are unaffected by this result.
