Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Manchester United won the first meeting 1-0 but may face a tougher test as the away side here. Copenhagen have scored 15 goals in just seven home fixtures in Denmark’s top flight and they scored in defeat to Bayern Munich earlier in the group stages. United have scored in five successive away games, so we’re backing both teams to score.

Manchester United 2-1

Reason for tip

United are clearly out-of-sorts but they did pick up a 1-0 win at Fulham at the weekend and should be good enough to overcome their hosts, who have managed just one point from their three group stage outings. Only one of United’s eight wins across all tournaments this season has been by more than one goal and with both teams expected to score a 2-1 win for the Old Trafford outfit has a chance.

Scott McTominay To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Scott McTominay has three goals in his last four games for United and he saw an effort ruled out at Fulham over the weekend, so the Scotland international looks a good contender for anyone looking for an outsider goalscorer bet.

FC Copenhagen vs Manchester United Predictions

  • Copenhagen have scored in 10 of their 12 home games across all comps, hitting 15 goals in seven domestic league games.
  • Manchester United have conceded 14 goals across six away games.
  • Both teams have scored in two of Copenhagen’s and two of United’s group games.

Nearly a ‘must win’ game for Ten Hag

Manchester United head to Copenhagen on Wednesday knowing only a victory will do if they are to take control of their Champions League destiny.

The Old Trafford side sit third in Group A and Bayern Munich have full control of top spot, meaning the fight for second is between Galatasaray, United and Copenhagen.

As Gala play Bayern on Wednesday, this perhaps isn’t quite a ‘must win’ encounter for United but a victory would be a huge boost in terms of their bid to reach the next round – but they could be in for a tough game in the Danish capital.

Hosts can get on the scoresheet

United managed to grind out a 1-0 win when these sides met at Old Trafford a few weeks ago but Copenhagen should have been encouraged by the way that game played out despite the loss.

The Danish side performed well, and were perhaps unlucky not to claim a draw in Manchester. They may enjoy a bit more success at home and both teams to score looks a good option for our main bet.

The Lions have hit 15 goals in seven home games in the Danish Superliga and they’ve scored in 10 of their 12 home fixtures across all competitions, including in a defeat to Bayern earlier in the group stages.

United have shipped 14 goals across their six away games in all competitions and their only clean sheets have come at struggling Premier League pair Sheffield United and Burnley.

Erik ten Hag’s side have scored in all of their European games and in their last five away from home in all competitions, so should also be expected to get on the scoresheet on Wednesday.

United should be able to triumph

United are clearly out-of-sorts but they did pick up a 1-0 win at Fulham at the weekend and should be good enough to overcome their hosts, who have managed just one point from their three group stage outings so far.

United have eight wins across all tournaments this season but only one of those victories has been by more than one goal. As such, another close game is expected here and a 2-1 win for the visitors is the correct score prediction.

Scott McTominay has three goals in his last four games for United and he saw an effort ruled out at Fulham over the weekend, so he appeals as a potential scorer ahead of Wednesday’s Group A clash.
