FC Copenhagen vs Slovan Bratislava Predictions
- Both teams have scored in four of Copenhagen’s five group games.
- Bratislava have conceded in three of their four matches so far in the group, excluding meetings with Lincoln Red Imps.
- The reverse fixture saw Copenhagen win 3-1.
Copenhagen comfortably through
An emphatic 4-0 win on matchday five over minnows Lincoln Red Imps secured the home side’s place at the top of Group F. They have won four of their five group stage matches but their only defeat did arrive on home soil.
Copenhagen have a relatively favourable fixture in the Danish Superliga where they sit second, but they may opt to rest a couple of players. Nonetheless, they are the joint-second highest scorers in this competition and are still very likely to score in this game. With Bratislava chasing the victory it could work in Copenhagen’s favour and I’m backing them to go on and take this game 2-1.
Can the visitors advance?
Despite currently holding on to second and a place in the preliminary knockout round, Slovan Bratislava are up against it to qualify as they head to Denmark.
They will need to match PAOK’s result in order to fend off the Greeks, however, with PAOK hosting group whipping boys, Lincoln Red Imps, it’s likely they will need a big win here. Tiebreakers are decided on head-to-head matches but since Bratislava and PAOK drew both meetings, goal difference will be used to separate the pair.
The away side are unbeaten in four group games since a matchday one defeat at home to Copenhagen but they have lost eight of their last 11 games on the road on the continent so will likely need a favour from elsewhere.
The path this game will take could change but with Slovan likely to catch wind of PAOK’s winning margin in Greece they will need to go for this game at some stage and I reckon that will come back to bite them. Back Copenhagen to run out 2-1 winners as the game gets stretched in the second period.
