FC Dordrecht vs FC Eindhoven Predictions
Last week’s 1-2 reversal at home to Telstar made it three defeats on the bounce for FC Eindhoven, and things are looking pretty bleak again for David Nascimento’s side after their mini revival in October. The positive for Blauw-witten is that they have a realistic chance of picking up points in the coming weeks from a string of games against teams around them at the foot of the Eerste Divisie table, beginning this Saturday when they visit Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion to face Dordrecht.
It’s a fixture Eindhoven will be desperate to win after Dordrecht completed a league double over them last term, and clinching three points here could set Blauw-witten up for a fruitful run into Christmas, with the likes of Helmond Sport, Jong AZ and Jong Utrecht all to play in the weeks ahead.
Nascimento’s team are bound to be low on confidence though after losing eight of their 13 league outings this season, and the main problem for Eindhoven is scoring goals.
With just ten on the board, they have the weakest attack in Eerste Divisie and head into this weekend’s fixture having netted just twice in their last two matches.
The positive for Eindhoven is that they have the best away record by some margin out of all the teams in the bottom six, with seven of their nine points thus far secured on the road (W2 D1 L4).
And the visitors don’t exactly have too much to fear this weekend with hosts Dordrecht languishing in 18th after just one win from their 13 league starts.
Gerard De Nooijer’s side reached the 2nd Round of the Play-offs last season after a remarkable run which saw them clinch the Period 3 table, but a repeat of similar heroics this time around seems highly unlikely.
Schapenkoppen have lost nine games in total from their 13 fixtures, and unlike FC Eindhoven, their problems centre around a porous rear guard that’s shipped 26 goals in all. Fortunately for Dordrecht, they’ve only conceded six of those at home and their back line may have an easier time of things this Saturday unless the visitors find their feet in attack.
Dordrecht can also take some confidence from their bold display at 2nd placed Go Ahead Eagles last week after only going down to a narrow 2-1 defeat in Deventer, but they’ve ran decent teams close on previous occasions this season and failed to build on it next time out.
This is a really tricky fixture to assess from a betting perspective with both sides struggling, and neither make real appeal for the three points looking at the odds on offer.
We should be in for a cagey affair, particularly in the early stages, and it’s unlikely that we’ll see many goals. 50% of these teams combined matches this term have featured less than 2.5 goals, and that’s our pick here at odds against. We just can’t split the sides, so we’re also going with a 1-1 correct score prediction.
