Ingolstadt vs RB Leipzig Predictions
Ingolstadt saw themselves sink to the bottom of the Bundesliga as Maik Walpurgis suffered his first defeat as coach in a crucial relegation “six-pointer” at Werder Bremen last Saturday. Ingolstadt have seen some improvement under Walpurgis’ leadership, however, he faces his biggest challenge yet when the Bavarians host league leaders RB Leipzig this weekend.
RB Leipzig passed the test against the in-form Schalke 04 with another strong performance in their 2-1 win at home last Saturday. RB Leipzig have made their mark as the best newly-promoted side in Bundesliga history, unbeaten over all thirteen Bundesliga matches so far (W10 D3), and these three points kept them ahead of reigning champions Bayern Munich by the same number. Leipzig’s Timo Werner scored his fifth in four matches after he converted a penalty he was (incorrectly) awarded just 19 seconds after kick-off. Werner is the joint 4th top goalscorer in the Bundesliga with eight goals, alongside Hertha’s Vedad Ibisevic, and his form is enough to make him our choice for an anytime goalscorer here (odds to follow).
RB Leipzig are, for obvious reasons, the bookies’ favourites ahead of this match. Given Leipzig’s momentum and Ingolstadt’s struggle at the other end of the table, we also find 7/10 to be an extremely decent price to back the visitors here. RB Leipzig are the most in-form team in the Bundesliga, heading into this off the back of eight consecutive Bundesliga wins, including their last four on the road, and are the joint-top scoring side in the Bundesliga (29 goals). Whereas, Ingolstadt sit rock bottom and, notably, have really struggled under the pressure of the home fans, taking just two points from their six matches (D2 L4) at the Audi-Sportpark so far.
Although we don’t expect this fixture to be too much trouble for Leipzig, the Red Bulls don’t hold a stellar defensive record. Both teams have scored in five of their last six Bundesliga matches, with Leipzig conceding exactly one goal in four of these. Meanwhile, both teams have scored in three of Ingolstadt’s last four home matches, including in their impressive 3-3 draw at home to Borussia Dortmund, so there is some decent potential for a goal from the home side too. As such, RB Leipzig to win and both teams to score at 3/1 are top odds for those who fancy the longer shot. Following on from this, a correct score bet of RB Leipzig to win 3-1 at 14/1 also seems about right here.
