Porto Poised to Tighten Grip at the Top

Porto have enjoyed success in seven of their last nine home games in the Primeira Liga and the best bet here is a Porto win when they host Braga at Estadio do Dragao on Sunday.

They are Primeira Liga leaders, with eight wins from their nine games this season, while Braga are seventh having won three, drawn four and lost two. They finished last season with 66 points, Porto achieved 71.

Porto beat Moreirense 2-1 in their last Primeira Liga game on Monday to keep up their recent winning trend. Porto restricted Moreirense to one shot on target.

The hosts have been hard to break down this season. No Primeira Liga side has shipped fewer goals than the two that Porto have conceded in their nine games, and they have kept out their opponents in eight of their last ten.

Porto will expect to get on the scoresheet. They have scored an average of 1.80 goals a game in their five Primeira Liga games against other top-half teams this season, and have scored three goals or more in four of their nine league games.

Porto are in form at home, having gone seven games unbeaten in the Primeira Liga and losing just one of their last ten on their own ground. They have only lost once to Braga in their last ten meetings there and are unbeaten in four this season.

Braga are enduring a rough spell. They have failed to win any of their last three Primeira Liga away games and have gone six of the last seven without tasting victory.

The visitors have been struggling defensively of late, with Braga failing to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven league games. They have not managed to keep their opponents at bay in any of their last three away matches.

Porto to win 1-0 at home looks a decent correct-score pick. There have been under 2.5 goals in four of Braga’s last five Primeira Liga games, and Porto have won two of the last three league meetings between the teams by a single goal.
