Tip Reasoning

  • Porto have won their last nine games and BTTS has landed in their last five.
  • Maritimo have scored in 80% of their away Primeira Liga matches this term.
  • Porto have scored at least three goals in their last seven games in all competitions.

Porto firepower can keep islanders at bay

Porto have too much firepower for Maritimo to hold off in Sunday’s Primeira Liga clash between these two clubs at the Dragao. Sergio Conceicao’s side have racked up 51 goals in 19 league games already this term and, if anything, appear to be getting hungrier for more.

The Dragons have hit at least three goals in their last seven games in all competitions and should do again when mid-table Maritimo head to the mainland.

The Madeiran club have conceded 11 goals on their last five visits to Porto’s famous stadium, but have shown an ability to give the big boys a scare or two along the way. Maritimo have scored five goals across that sequence of matches, scoring in three trips and even managing a shock 3-2 win there last season.

Conceicao’s consistent Dragons unlikely to be caught out

That victory came against a Porto side that finished five points behind champions Sporting, but Conceicao’s troops are much more consistent this season. The hosts have won their last nine games on the bounce and have taken the spoils in 15 straight league games at home – a run that stretches back almost a year.

Os Verde-Rubros are unlikely to be the ones to break that streak, although they come into the game on the back of some improving away form after back-to-back wins at Portimonense and Braga. This is a big step up from those two opponents, however, and we believe the best they can take from this is a goal and a result that isn’t considered embarrassing.

We’re lending our support to a Porto and both teams to score bet that would have landed in the hosts’ last five games while a 3-1 scoreline appeals in correct score betting because Porto are averaging just under three goals for and only 0.55 against across their nine prior home league games.
