Netherlands To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Finland have started their World Cup qualifying campaign with four points from two games, but the Netherlands represent a huge step up in quality. They have never beaten the Dutch, losing ten of their 11 encounters, and have failed to score in recent losses to Greece and Ireland.

Netherlands 3-0

Reason for tip

Netherlands have scored ten goals in their last four matches and face a Finland side that have failed to score in their last two defeats, while they shipped three against England and four against Portugal last year.

Finland vs Netherlands Predictions

  • Netherlands have won to nil in two of their last three meetings with Finland.
  • Finland’s last two defeats have seen them fail to score.

The Oranje to coast to victory in Helsinki

Finland have taken four points from two games as they hunt for their first ever World Cup qualification, but they must take a big step up when they face the Netherlands on Saturday, and a continuation of their unbeaten start looks unlikely.

The hosts’ recent results came against group minnows Lithuania and Malta, but the Netherlands have won ten and drawn one of their 11 historic meetings with Finland and look good value to coast to victory on Saturday.

Ronald Koeman’s side’s form looks patchy on paper, but recent fixtures have pitted them against Spain (twice) and Germany, and they should have a much easier time in Helsinki.

The Oranje have won to nil in two of their last three meetings with Finland, and the hosts’ last two defeats have been to nil, so I’m backing Netherlands to win to nil alongside a comfortable 3-0 scoreline.

Xavi Simons looks good value to add to his four international goals, too. He ended the season by scoring three and assisted two in his final five games for RB Leipzig, and he scored and assisted in his last outing for the national team.
