Linfield to come up short

Zalgiris have performed well domestically winning 12 of their 19 games in the Lithuanian top division and sitting two points clear at the summit. They’ve scored just under two goals a game on average but have conceded well under a goal a game with five clean sheets in a row in their home country.

Last season Zalgiris came up short in Europa League qualification when they lost out to Bodo/Glimt from the Norwegian top division and suffered no European football as a result.

Linfield initially qualified for the Champions League but were defeated in qualifying by Legia of Poland. They dropped into Europa League qualifying but were immediately eliminated by Maltese side, Floriana.

Zalgiris definitely have the advantage by being the home side but Linfield are a decent outfit who should cause them some problems. Linfield have scored in their last eight games and we’re backing them to do so again in this contest with a prediction that both teams will score. Zalgiris look a little better than their opponents however and we’re forecasting a 2-1 win for the hosts which will give them the advantage heading into the second leg.
