Al Ahly looking to produce another shock

Egypt’s Al Ahly produced a bit of an upset in the previous round of the Club World Cup by seeing off a star-studded Al Ittihad 3-1 and they will need to pull off another shock against Copa Libertadores winner Fluminense to reach the final.

Ultimately, the Brazilian outfit may well come out on top but Al Ahly have proven to be incredibly tough to beat and it could be worth taking a chance on the North African outfit to either win or draw in the 90 minutes in the double chance market.

This is Fluminense’s first appearance in the CWC but Al Ahly are competing in the tournament for the fourth year in a row and the sixth time overall.

The Egyptian side are in good form with just one defeat across their last 17 games in all competitions, winning nine of those, while Fluminense are in a the middle of a bit of a rough patch as they’ve lost their last two and have won just three of their last 10.

As such, backing the Egyptians in the double chance market could be the best way to approach this game and a 1-1 draw is the correct score prediction.

Al Ahly have drawn four of their last six games and this is likely to be a bit of a cagey affair with a place in the final at stake. Fluminense have only failed to score in one of their last six games and Al Ahly have scored in six of their last eight, so both teams can find a way through even if this is a low-scoring game.

Fluminense forward John Kennedy stands out as a potential scorer as he was on target against Gremio last time out despite only featuring in the second half. Kennedy has three goals in his last seven games and can get on the scoresheet in Saudi Arabia.
