Forest Green Rovers vs Swindon Predictions
- Forest Green have won seven games so far this season, two more than anyone else
- FGR have also netted 20 goals in 10 games, the most in the division
- Forest Green haven’t conceded in their last five League Two games
League leaders have advantage in South West battle
Forest Green endured playoff heartache last season but have bounced back in impressive style, winning seven of their opening 10 games to top League Two. Rob Edwards’ side have found the net 20 times in those games and despite their open nature in the first five games of the season, have gone the five since without conceding.
Scottish midfielder Regan Hendry has impressed, as have strikers Jamille Matt and Matthew Stevens. Only Bradford have managed more shots than FGR’s 144 so far this campaign. The league leaders face a South West derby of sorts against Swindon Town, who were relegated in acrimonious circumstances from League One last season.
The former ownership was largely to blame for that and a new chairman appears to have breathed new life into the club. The Robins sit fifth after taking 16 points from their opening 10 games.
However, FGR have been in another league to their rivals so far this season and show no sign of relenting. We predict a home win for Edwards’ side.
Defensive mettle can be key for Rovers
Only Tranmere have conceded less than Forest Green’s eight so far this campaign and the South West club have gone five games without allowing a goal.
Swindon’s young team did well to secure a win against Bristol Rovers last time out but they are a side in trouble this year and the Robins had failed to win their four games before that.
As a result of FGR’s defensive solidity, we are predicting a correct score of a comfortable 2-0 win here.
