Fulham vs Arsenal Predictions
- Fulham have lost seven of their eight clashes with the top six this season
- The Cottagers have lost 16 of their previous 18 against the league leaders
- Arsenal boast the league’s best away record
- The Gunners head into this clash having won each of their last four league outings
Another thriller for Gunners?
After their thrilling 3-2 win over Bournemouth last weekend Arsenal drew 2-2 at Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Thursday night. That bodes well for goals in the opening salvo of Super Sunday this weekend, as the Gunners meet another promoted side.
However, they head to a Fulham outfit who have ambitions of making it into Europe this term. The Cottagers head into the weekend in seventh place in the table, which would likely gain them a spot in the Europa Conference League.
The hosts led at the Emirates back in August, with a late Arsenal turnaround preserving their unbeaten start. Can Marco Silva’s side cause more problems for the Gunners this weekend?
Tricky test for Fulham
The Cottagers have certainly made their mark on the top-flight this term, but they’ve yet to see off any of the league’s top sides. The hosts have 11 wins to their name this season, with all of those coming in games against sides below them. Their record against the other 13 sides in the division is 11 wins, five draws and just two defeats.
Fulham have really struggled to match anyone in the top six, having lost seven of their eight matches against them so far. Their single point in those games was August’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool, which feels a long way off now.
The Cottagers have lost 16 of their last 18 Premier League games against sides starting the day top of the table (W2), including each of the last nine in a row. They’ve also been beaten in 22 of their last 31 meetings with Arsenal in the league, including seven defeats in their last nine.
Arsenal pushing ever closer
The Gunners have a 100% record in their away London derbies this season, winning those 8-0 on aggregate. They also boast the league’s best away record, having claimed seven points more than the next-best side on their travels.
The visitors have won 10 of 13 away trips this season and they come into this one on the back of a four-game winning streak in the league. Given Fulham’s record against top sides, the visitors look like the side to back in this one.
Fulham have lost 2-1 on four occasions to the top six this season, conceding at least twice in three of their four home meetings with them. Back Arsenal to score a couple and claim a victory, with in-form Gabriel Martinelli the man to back as a scorer. He impressed as the central striker against Sporting in midweek and he has scored in three of the Gunners’ last four league games.
