Fulham looking to continue European push
There is a Friday night Premier League fixture this week as in-form Fulham take on Wolves at Craven Cottage.
Fulham were without star forward Aleksandar Mitrovic at Brighton last week but they managed to claim a 1-0 win regardless. The Serbian remains a doubt for the visit of Wolves, but the Cottagers’ impressive home record suggests they may be able to cope without their leading marksman in this fixture.
Craven Cottage a fortress for Fulham
Fulham sit just outside the European places and their success has been largely built on their impressive home form.
Marco Silva’s men have won six of their 12 home games in the league and their three defeats have all come against the teams immediately above them – Manchester United, Newcastle and Spurs in third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Wolves have won two of their last four away from home but those successes have both come against relegation rivals and in general their road form is poor – losing six of their 11 trips.
The visitors go into Friday’s fixture on the back of a disappointing and perhaps unexpected 1-0 home defeat to Bournemouth, while Fulham have seven points from the last nine available and three successive league clean sheets so at an odds-against price the hosts look excellent value to secure a win.
Don’t expect Friday night fireworks
Fulham may be in good form but they have found goals hard to come by and chances are they’ll be without Mitrovic again.
The Cottagers have only scored three goals across their last five league games overall but have only failed to score in one of their last six at Craven Cottage across all competitions.
Four of Wolves’ six away league losses have seen them fail to score, and all the signs point to a low scoring affair. A home win to nil was a consideration for the main bet but the price on a standard Fulham win represents good value as it stands, and a 2-0 win for the hosts is the correct score selection as they have scored exactly twice in three of their four home league games since the World Cup break.
Fulham’s Willian could be a good option as a scorer bet as he has managed to find the back of the net in their last two home Premier League games. Manor Solomon also has some appeal as an alternative option as he has scored after coming off the bench in the last two games and that may see him handed his first start, although it is of course worth checking the starting line-ups before placing a bet on the 23-year-old.
