Rovers to edge out struggling Galway

Shamrock Rovers can take the away win when they face Galway at Eamonn Deacy Park on Sunday. Given the hosts’ recent woes, Rovers look set to come out on top.

Rovers are top of the table, having won 15 of their 26 games so far, while Galway are eighth with seven wins and 11 losses.

The visitors’ 2-0 win over Derry City last weekend kept up their recent winning trend. Rory Gaffney scored both of Shamrock Rovers’ goals.

Galway’s defence is a concern, with the hosts going nine games without keeping a clean sheet. They have conceded 17 goals at home this season in the Premier Division – an average of 1.42 goals per game from 12 matches.

Galway are in poor form, having now gone six games without a victory, sustaining four successive defeats during this run.

The hosts’ attack has been particularly blunt of late, and they have lost three of their last four Premier Division games without scoring.

Shamrock Rovers, meanwhile, are in fine form, with five victories in their last seven Premier Division matches.

Rovers can edge this, with a 1-0 correct score in favour of the visitors looking like a decent bet. Three of their last four Premier Division games have gone under 2.5 goals, and they have won two of the last three meetings with Galway by a single goal.
