Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Genoa have conceded exactly once in four of their last six games, including a pair of 1-1 draws. Sassoulo meanwhile have netted exactly once in their last two outings, but are without a clean sheet in 25 on the road.

Genoa vs Sassuolo Predictions

  • Four of Genoa’s last seven matches have ended all square
  • Sassuolo are on a twelve game winless run on the road
  • Only one team in Serie A has had more draws than Genoa’s 13 this season

Genoa playing for pride

Safe from relegation and unable to trouble the European qualification places, Genoa have had little to play for over the last few weeks, and that is reflected in their recent results.

The Griffins have only lost one of their last seven outings, but four of those games have been drawn, including a late own goal which earned them a point in an enthralling 3-3 stalemate with AC Milan in their most recent fixture.

They did beat Cagliari 3-0 in their last home game, but have not won back-to-back fixtures at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris all season, while 13 of their 35 Serie A matches have ended all-square, the joint-second most in the division.

Sassuolo in dire straits

A point would really do visitors Sassuolo no good whatsoever, given they head into this game in the relegation zone and three points from safety, meaning they could be all but mathematically relegated should they lose.

The Watermelon Peel did boost their survival hopes last time out by beating AC Milan 1-0, but it could all be too little, too later for a team have gone a dozen away trips without success.

Two of those fixtures have at least ended as draws, as have half of their last six outings at all venues, and given the fight they are finally showing, perhaps another is on the way here.

I predict this match will end as a stalemate, with 1-1 my correct score prediction.
