Germany vs Ivory Coast Predictions
- Germany have conceded in 11 of their last 16 matches
- The Ivory Coast have won eight and drawn one of their last 10 internationals
- The Germans have conceded in clashes with Switzerland, Ghana, the US and Curacao this year
- Havertz has scored nine goals across his last 13 starts for Germany
Ivorians bid to build on great start
The Ivory Coast are on the verge of a first appearance in the knockout rounds at the World Cup, thanks to their 1-0 win against Ecuador in Philadelphia.
A late strike from Man United’s Amad Diallo means the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations winners have three points on the board, with a clash against Curacao to come in their final group game.
However, the Elephants will be able to test a German side that looks shakier than their 10-game winning streak suggests.
7-1 win did little to inspire confidence in Germans
Germany thumped Curacao 7-1 in Houston, but Julian Nagelsmann’s side have never quite matched up to the high of Euro 2024 since Toni Kroos retired. They suffered defeats on home soil to Portugal and France in the Nations League last summer. They closed 2025 with a five-game winning streak, but that dug them out of a hole in qualifying after they fell to a 2-0 defeat in Slovakia.
Germany struggled to dispatch Northern Ireland both home and away, and they’ve been far from watertight at the back. They’ve conceded in wins over Ghana, the USA and Curacao, while they started 2026 with a 4-3 victory against Switzerland.
The Ivory Coast found a way past an Ecuador team that has one of the strongest backlines at the tournament, and they can trouble a German side that has kept five clean sheets across their last 16 matches.
Havertz looks key for Germany
After an injury-hit season, Kai Havertz was key for Arsenal in the final couple of months of the campaign. He’s carried his good form into this tournament, scoring twice against Curacao in their opener.
Havertz has now scored in four of his last five games for club and country, including the goal against Burnley that effectively sealed the Premier League title for the Gunners and the opening strike in the Champions League final. He had a goal and an assist in their 2-1 victory over the US ahead of the tournament.
Havertz has scored nine times in his last 13 starts for his country, and he’s the standout goalscorer selection here.
