Getafe vs Malaga Predictions
There has only been 1 goal in the 3 matches involving Malaga this season and it was scored by Barcelona’s Thomas Vermaelen. A 0-0 draw with Sevilla and a 1-0 win at the Camp Nou might not have been a disaster but they were worryingly unimaginative going forward in the goalless draw at home to Eibar last time out and it is just hard to see where goals are going to come from Malaga this season now Juanmi is no longer at the club.
They’ve only scored 4 times in their last 8 La Liga away matches and all of their last 3 visits to Getafe have ended in 1-0 defeats. Therefore they won’t be heading here with much optimism despite the fact that Getafe are bottom of the league and yet to pick up a point this season.
If anything that could make their task harder as Getafe may set their stall out to be solid at the back and make it difficult for Malaga to break them down. They’ll desperately want to get something on the board at the end of the game so won’t approach it with the sort of attacking mentality that could lead to gaps at both ends.
Therefore it is highly likely that at least one of the teams isn’t going find the back of the net on Friday. You can back that to be the case at 4/6 which isn’t bad when you consider how badly both have started.
Of the two Getafe have offered marginally more in an attacking sense. They’ve actually played some good football at times, particularly during their opening day defeat at Espanyol where they were unlucky to lose. They’ve scored in both their last two games and have netted in 8 of their previous 10 La Liga home games.
Therefore they look like a good shout to win the game 1-0 at 11/2 and extend Malaga’s goal drought to 4 matches. It would also represent a 4th consecutive home win over Malaga who don’t seem to enjoy their visits to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
