      Sundsvall vs AIK Predictions

AIK Solna are the new leaders of the Swedish Allsvenskan. Their easy victory at Trelleborg last time out combined with Hammarby slipping up at home has resulted in the Stockholm club moving to the top of the table and they have to like their chances of going all the way and clinching the title now.

They’ve been one of the most consistent sides in Sweden in recent years, finishing as runners up in the Allsvenskan to Malmo in each of the last two seasons. They are yet to lose this term and appear to be operating on a similar kind of level again but the big difference this year is that Malmo are nowhere to be seen. With the holders down in the bottom half, AIK have to be viewed as the title favourites and while that will bring its own pressure, they seem to be responding well to it.

This is a game they will be hopeful of winning but it won’t be easy. GIF Sundsvall are currently in mid table and look to have enough about them to beat the drop. They’ve won 2 of their last 3 games in the Allsvenskan and they’ve been pretty good at home where they average 2 points per game, the 5th best home record in the division.

They should have their moments here and there is reason to expect both teams to get on the scoresheet at some stage. Sundsvall again rank in the top five for goals scored with an average of 1.67 goals per game. They’ve netted in 86% of their home matches so they have reason to think they can break down a strong AIK defence.

The visitors are the clear favourites with the bookies though. They’ve been a bit more positive in recent matches, netting 7 goals in their last two Allsvenskan matches but conceding 4. That’s not really like them as they’ve built their success in recent years around solid defence but the fact that 71% of their away league games this term have seen both teams score suggests they may be playing in a more positive manner this term.

That bodes well for an open game here and backing Both Teams to Score looks good.

In terms of the result, going for the Draw may offer the best value. 57% of AIK’s away games this term have finished level and this looks like a strong candidate for a repeat, given GIF Sundsvall have only lost 1 of their 7 home games so far.
