Real Madrid to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Girona have conceded multiple goals in four of their seven home La Liga matches, losing three, while Real Madrid have won four of their six away league games with at least three goals in three of those. It would be a shock if Girona kept the visitors quiet for long on Sunday and a 2-1 away win seems the most likely outcome given Xabi Alonso’s side have conceded in four of their last five away league games.

Real Madrid 2-1

Reason for tip

Real Madrid can score multiple goals wherever they play, but two might be enough to take all three points against Girona. The hosts have improved in recent weeks, although they still have the worst defensive record in La Liga. They scored against Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona, so grabbing one against a Real Madrid side that rarely keep away clean sheets should not be a problem in a possible 2-1 home defeat.

Kylian Mbappe To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Kylian Mbappe has scored 22 goals in 18 La Liga and Champions League games this season. He is in lethal form after bagging all four goals in their hampions League win over Olympiacos in midweek.

Girona vs Real Madrid Predictions

  • Girona have conceded multiple goals in four of their seven home La Liga matches, losing three
  • Real Madrid have won four of their six away league games with at least three goals in three
  • Kylian Mbappe has scored 22 goals in 18 La Liga and Champions League games this season

Mbappe has his eyes on Golden Boot

Lowly Girona welcome the mighty Real Madrid to the Montilivi on Sunday with crucial points at stake at both ends of the La Liga table. The relegation-threatened hosts have struggled to make any headway this term, recording just two wins and owning the worst defensive record in the division.

There has been a slight recent upturn with Michel’s men grinding out a 1-0 home win over Alaves and a 1-1 draw at Betis in recent weeks. However, it is hard to envisage them holding Los Blancos – and Kylian Mbappe in particular – at bay.

The Frenchman plundered another four goals in his side’s 4-3 Champions League win at Olympiacos in midweek and appears desperate to retain the Golden Boot he won last term. His tally of 13 goals in 13 La Liga games means he still trails Harry Kane and Erling Haaland, so the ex-Paris Saint-Germain star will be keen to catch up this weekend.

Los Blancos’ firepower to overhaul hosts

It is hard to believe Real Madrid are still at the summit given the negative noises coming out of the Bernabeu following two league draws on the trot. A goalless game against Rayo Vallecano was followed by a 2-2 stalemate at 10-man Elche in which Jude Bellingham bailed Xavi Alonso’s side out with a late equaliser.

Mbappe scored in neither and Los Blancos have perhaps become overly reliant on the Frenchman in that respect, but should still have too much firepower for the struggling hosts.

Girona have shipped a league-high 25 goals across their 13 matches and have conceded at least twice in three of their last five La Liga games. Backing Los Blancos to win with over 2.5 goals in the game looks well aligned with both teams’ recent scoring trends.
