Halmstad vs Frej Predictions

This is a bit of a top versus bottom clash, with Frej currently fighting for their lives while Halmstad are certainly eyeing up a promotion push. They are only 5th right now but with a game in hand on the top three, they certainly have time to really get in amongst the scrap for the automatic promotion positions.

Their form coming into this game is good and they certainly justify their status as clear favourites. They’ve won 5 of their last 6 matches in the Superettan and are unbeaten in 7, so confidence should be sky high in their camp. They took a bit of time to adjust to the shock of relegation from the top flight last term but they now really seem to be warming to the task of securing an immediate return to the Allsvenskan.

On paper this should be a home banker, with Frej currently just one point off the bottom. However the visitors have finally picked up a few results of late so there’s reason to think they could pose one or two problems for their more illustrious opponents. Frej had picked up just one point all season prior to their last four games but those matches have yielded 7 points, to see them move off the foot of the division and into a position where they might feasibly be able to get themselves out of trouble.

They were 3-2 winners last time out but it is worth noting that every point they’ve claimed this season has come at home. With a 100% defeat ratio on their travels, it’s virtually impossible to feel confident of their chances of getting even a draw here away to strong opponents. Their average of 1.18 goals per game isn’t bad for a struggling side though so they stand a chance of getting on the scoresheet here.

Defensively though, Frej have too many weaknesses, with 2.09 goals per game conceded so far this term. Halmstad will feel there should be at least a couple of goals in this for them and they have netted exactly three goals in 4 of their last 6 matches. Japanese forward Kosuke Kinoshita has been in fine form for them and he bagged a First Half hat-trick last time out in the 3-2 win at Varberg.

All things considered, going for Halmstad & Over 2.5 Goals looks to offer value here. Certainly it’s a game they should win and both their recent matches and most of Frej’s games this term suggest we should see several goals in this one.
