Bayern Munich To Win To Nil

      Reason for tip

Bayern Munich had to opportunity to rest players for Wednesday’s Champions League win at PSV and that freshness should hold them in good stead at Hamburg. The Bavarians have conceded just three goals in their last five away games and can shut out their hosts, who have blanked in two straight games.

      Bayern Munich 5-0

      Reason for tip

For most teams a five-goal win would be a one-off – Bayern Munich are not most teams. The Bavarians have beaten top-six  challengers Stuttgart and Leipzig 5-0 and 5-1 within their last five away matches, suggesting a repeat of October’s 5-0 hammering of Hamburg is not out of the question.

      Hamburg vs Bayern Munich Predictions

      • Bayern Munich have won six straight away games, scoring 22 goals in that run
      • Hamburg have scored just three goals in their last five matches, blanking in the last two
      • The Bavarians have won the last five head-to-heads without conceding

Back Bayern to bounce back convincingly

This fixture is known as the north-south summit as it pits Germany’s two dominant sides from the 1970s and 80s, who just happened to be from different areas, against one another.

There is certainly a much bigger gulf between the pair now, though, with promoted Hamburg trailing runaway Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich by a mammoth 32 points, and that should show on Saturday.

Bayern surrendered their shot at an unbeaten season when surprisingly losing 2-1 to Augsburg last weekend but Vincent Kompany’s side have been otherwise brilliant, and it should be smooth-sailing for the visitors.

Hamburg’s forwards facing another tough outing

Clean sheets have evaded the Bavarians of late, with Kompany’s men managing just one in six outings, but they were able to rest key men for Wednesday’s Champions League win at PSV and that freshness should see them shut out Hamburg.

The hosts have struggled for goals recently, scoring only three in their last five outings, and their record in this fixture will not inspire confidence, having lost the last five head-to-heads without finding the net once.

Bayern will want to bounce back in style and a repeat of October’s 5-0 reverse-fixture victory is not out of the question.
