Hammarby vs Dalkurd Predictions
This would have been an absolute home banker a few weeks ago but Hammarby’s recent struggles and a few good results for Dalkurd make it a little more interesting, so the visitors will fancy they can be competitive at the very least. Certainly from the home team’s point of view, it is a hugely significant game.
Hammarby stormed to the top of the table with a fine run which saw them win 8 of their opening 9 league games. However they’ve collected just 2 points from 4 matches since then as they’ve come unstuck with back to back home defeats against fellow high-fliers AIK and Ostersunds. Those results have seen them slip to 2nd place and this feels like a must win game as they attempt to get back on track and build some momentum again.
It’s not a great time to be playing Dalkurd though. The newly promoted club made a managerial switch in May and have looked much more impressive under the stewardship of Adil Kizil. They’ve taken 5 points from their last 3 games, having only managed 4 points all season prior to that. Therefore we have reason to at least expect a competitive match but there are still some facts that are hard to escape from.
For starters, heading into this match-day this fixture still sees the 2nd placed side host the 2nd bottom side and Dalkurd’s abysmal away record suggests they will struggle to avoid defeat. They average just 0.14 points per game away this term with 8 of their 9 points in the Allsvenskan so far having come in front of their own supporters. They’ve been very weak defensively away, conceding 2.14 goals per game on the road.
Hammarby certainly have the firepower to punish them. They average 2.43 goals per game at home, while their average of 2 goals per game overall is also the best record in the division. They’ve struggled to make the better teams pay in recent weeks but up against a weaker defence like that of Dalkurd, they should rediscover the path to goal here.
Overall they have much more quality than their opponents and given a huge 86% of their home games this season have produced over 2.5 goals, backing Hammarby & Over 2.5 Goals looks like it could be the smart bet here.
