Hapoel Beer Sheva vs Inter Milan Predictions

It’s difficult to believe that Inter have made such a mess of this Europa League group. They’ve dropped below Hapoel Be’er Sheva, and they currently sit bottom of the standings with just two matches left to play. Should they fail to win Thursday’s match in Israel, then their final fixture in this group will be meaningless. The 2010 European champions need to win here, or they crash out of the Europa League.

This should have been straightforward for Inter, but they’re currently in meltdown. The Serie A side are onto their third manager of the season, and that doesn’t include caretakers. There’s no stability, and worries over Financial Fair Play rules mean they have been forced to leave key players out of their Europa League squad.

On the bright side, new coach Stefano Pioli made a good start to his tenure, as Inter drew 2-2 with rivals AC Milan. The Milan derby is a difficult way to start, especially with AC playing so well. However, a last minute equaliser is bound to boost morale around the camp. The only problem is that they were poor defensively once again.

Their defensive woes will take Pioli a while to fix. It’s hard to believe that they topped the Serie A table last Christmas thanks to a brilliant defensive record. Less than 11 months on, things are very different. Keeping a clean sheet away to Hapoel looks like a challenge too far for them.

Inter have conceded seven times in just four Europa League games, while they’ve let in five in their two matches away from home in the competition. They’ve conceded in 86% of their trips in Serie A, letting in 1.43 a game on average. They are pretty skilled at finding the net, having scored in both away European games. They’ve also averaged a goal per match on the road domestically.

Inter face a tough test this week, Hapoel have a strong home record. They beat Celtic comfortably here in the summer, and the Scottish side are showing their talents in the Champions League. The Israeli side also managed a draw here with Southampton. The hosts also managed to score six times in three home qualifiers for the Champions League.

There’s certainly some talent among the Hapoel ranks, but we can’t see them living with the Italian’s attack. We’re backing both of these sides to find the net here, which has occurred in 69% of Inter’s league games. BTTS in this clash is well priced at 19/20 with bet365.
