Tip Reasoning

  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in eight of Northampton’s ten league games
  • Under 2.5 goals has clicked in each of Hartlepool’s last six games
  • Hartlepool are unbeaten in five home league games, winning on four occasions

Goals look set to be in short supply

Hartlepool boast the best home form in League Two and should have little to fear against Northampton, who are finding goals hard to come by.

Newly-promoted Pools have won four and drawn one of their five home league games this season, with their only dropped points coming in a 1-1 draw with a well-respected Exeter outfit.

Hartlepool look the most likely victors against Northampton, but backing under 2.5 goals looks the way to go.

The Cobblers have good shape and organisation but have looked toothless in attack and make the long trip north on the back of their worst performance of the season.

Northampton failed to register a shot on target in a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Sutton last weekend and they have now won only one of their last five outings.

Jon Brady’s side have been unable to unearth a regular source of goals and worryingly for them centre-back Jon Guthrie is their leading scorer with a tally of just three.

But with a defence featuring Fraser Horsfall, Guthrie and Aaron McGowan and an excellent shot-stopper in Liam Roberts means Northampton won’t be easy to crack.

Cobblers’ ten games have featured just 18 goals, which is the same as Hartlepool’s, so expect a low-scoring encounter.

Under 2.5 goals has clicked in eight of Northampton’s ten league games and it has also landed in each of Hartlepool’s last six league fixtures.

If there is to be a winner then it may be Hartlepool and we are predicting a narrow 1-0 victory. Four of Northampton’s ten outings this season have seen just a solitary goal.
