Hartlepool vs Port Vale Predictions

  • Hartlepool are winless in their last four League Two matches, losing on their last home outing.
  • Port Vale, meanwhile, have won four on the bounce, and have dropped just two points from the last 24 available to them.
  • Port Vale defeated Hartlepool 2-0 in November’s return fixture.

Port Vale continue promotion charge on Easter weekend

A run of seven wins and one draw from their last eight games, the last four of which have all been victories, has catapulted Port Vale into a commanding position in the League Two promotion race, sitting in the final automatic spot and boasting a three-point cushion to fourth as the finish line approaches.

Acting manager Andy Crosby has been excellent since stepping in for Darrell Clarke, boasting a 61.5 per cent win percentage since taking the reigns. Indeed, the Valiants’ last three away games have all ended in victory, and they have been excellent to watch in recent weeks, scoring multiple goals in all but two of their last eight matches.

The 33 points Port Vale have taken from 20 away games is the fourth-best record in the division this term, and Hartlepool United may not hold out much hope of troubling it. Graeme Lee’s team are winless in their last four games, two of which were defeats, and have absolutely nothing to play for at the business end of the season, sitting 13 points shy of the play-offs and 16 points clear of the drop zone.

Back visitors to boost third-tier hopes on Friday

Port Vale’s excellent recent form, combined with Hartlepool’s poor results and lack of any discernible target over the next few weeks, means an away victory is the best available play on Friday, especially with Port Vale available at a half-decent price.

Meanwhile, with the Staffordshire outfit winning November’s return fixture 2-0, a repeat of that scoreline could be a decent correct score prediction, particularly after Crosby’s team kept three clean sheets in their last five games.
