Fancied Emmen may come up short again 

It’s a surprise to see Emmen in the bottom four of the Eerste Divisie, albeit after only four rounds of fixtures, because they finished so strongly in 2020-21.

Having failed to win a top-flight match until late February, they went on a run of seven wins, three draws and only two losses from their last 12 games before being relegated after a play-off penalty shoot-out.

But while they have been beaten twice at De Oude Meerdijk this season, Dick Lukkien’s side have retained their good away form.

They started sloppily against Telstar and came roaring back in the second half, but the home side’s keeper earned man of the match and the hosts a share of the spoils.

There was a distinct improvement when beating fellow relegated club ADO Den Haag 2-1 a fortnight ago and they could win this if the clinical side of their game returns.

However, we think there’s better value elsewhere for this Friday’s matchup with all the signs pointing to a low-scoring contest.

Only one of Emmen’s four league games this season has featured above two goals while five of the last six Helmond Sport home matches have also been ‘unders’.

So we’re taking a tasty odds-against price for this to feature fewer than three goals and like the look of a 1-1 draw in the correct score market, which has landed twice in the last five Helmond Sport home games.
