Helmond Sport vs Telstar Predictions
A double salvo from Belgian forward Arne Naudts earned a Helmond Sport a 2-2 draw away to Jong AZ last week, a respectable result but one which extended Sport’s winless start to the campaign. Rob Alflen’s side are the only team in Eerste Divisie without a victory this season, and that’s something they’ll be looking to put right on match day nine when they square off against Telstar at SolarUnie Stadion.
Not only did last week’s point in Alkmaar extend Sport’s winless start to this season, it also lengthened their overall run of games without a victory to 16.
That’s seriously concerning for Sport supporters who would’ve hoped for a change in fortunes following Rob Alflen’s appointment in the summer.
One senses that further managerial change at the club could be imminent if Helmond can’t get off the mark soon, and they could easily drop from 18th to the foot of the table on match day nine if they’re beaten at home to Telstar.
Sport prevailed 2-3 in Ijmuiden when these teams last met in March, however Telstar have won on their last two visits to Helmond including a 1-2 success here last term. Although beaten 3-0 by Jong Ajax on the road last week, Telstar will be confident about getting back to winning ways at SolarUnie Stadion and improving their current league position.
6th last season, Telstar are 13th eight games into the new campaign and have been rather hit and miss with three wins and five defeats in the ledger.
Boss Mike Snoei would’ve been targeting another Play-off spot for the club which has now been plying their trade in the Dutch second tier for 41 seasons, but his side will come up well short this time around unless they can find some consistency soon.
Telstar’s comprehensive defeat in Amsterdam on match day eight, and the fact they’ve lost three from four on the road in 2018/19, tempers any enthusiasm about backing the visitors here, despite the hosts’ dreadful run.
One typical feature of this long standing Eerste Divisie encounter is goals; there have been 27 in the last six meetings, four of which have featured over 3.5 goals.
That’s what we’re going for here at a shade of odds-against, and we’re also going for 2-2 in the correct score market for what should be an open and entertaining contest.
