Hertha can secure their survival

The Bundesliga returns after a three week winter break and Hertha Berlin are looking to pick up back-to-back wins for the first time since October.

Tayfun Korkut’s side remain in mid-table, but goal scoring is certainly not an issue as they have netted in each of their eight matches at Olympiastadion Berlin.

They are conceding too many, though. Both teams have scored in six of their home games, with their defence being breached nine times in total.

Cologne’s poor away record

Cologne sit above Hertha in the table, but that is largely down to their strong home record, as on the road they have only picked up seven points from eight games, winning just once.

Steffen Baumgart’s side have conceded 16 times in those matches, but they are averaging one goal per 90 minutes at the other end having struck eight times.

Both teams have scored in their last three away outings, and in 13 of their 17 Bundesliga fixtures this season, so they do have problems at the back.

I predict both teams will score in this game, as neither look particularly solid at the back, but Hertha Berlin have a strong home record, so I select 2-1 to the hosts as a correct score prediction.
