Aberdeen to Win

Reason for tip

Aberdeen are unable to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Europa Conference League but they have put in respectable performances on the road and can get the better of HJK Helsinki, who have finished their domestic season and look ready for hibernation.

Aberdeen 2-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in eight of Aberdeen’s last 11 away matches and it looks likely that could happen again, so take the Dons to post a 2-1 success on their trip to Finland.

HJK Helsinki vs Aberdeen Predictions

  • HJK Helsinki have lost their last four games
  • Both teams have scored in eight of Aberdeen’s last 11 away matches
  • Just three of those 11 games have featured fewer than three goals

Dons can get first win

Aberdeen were stung by an injury-time penalty equaliser when they played Rangers on Sunday but they can gain a lift by claiming their first Europa Conference League victory at HJK Helsinki.

The Dons are unable to book their place in the knockout round after claiming two points from their four group matches, but they have shown enough in their two previous away games to suggest they can win in Finland.

There was little disgrace in losing 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt and a 2-2 draw at PAOK was not bad either, and they face a team whose point from a trip to Pittodrie is all they have mustered.

Motivation may also be an issue for HJK as their domestic season has now closed too, so the value should be with backing the Scottish side.

Goals at both ends look likely

HJK lost at home to both Frankfurt and PAOK and were also humbled 6-0 on their trip to Germany, so their confidence is likely to be low, while the Dons gave Rangers a real run for their money at the weekend and have already won at Ibrox this season.

It is 11 games, though, since Barry Robson’s side kept a clean sheet on their travels, so there is potential for them to concede, but they look primed to finally get a Conference League win and a 2-1 away win may be of interest to correct-score punters.
