Terriers can hold Hatters for a point

Huddersfield Town are at last moving in the right direction under Mark Fotheringham and can hold an inconsistent Luton side to a draw on Sunday.

The Terriers deserved their 2-0 win over Rotherham on Thursday night, but it was another efficient display in front of goal as they converted two of their three shots on target – as they had done to beat Preston 2-1 on Boxing Day.

They try to play the right way and have at least stopped hemorrhaging goals at the rate they were under  Danny Schofield. But Town are actually averaging slightly fewer goals per game now than they did when the previous boss was in charge for the first nine outings of the campaign.

Hatters appear to be uneasy favourites

Luton moved up to seventh with their 3-0 road win over a listless QPR this week to bolster an impressive away record of six wins, one draw and three losses this term.

The Hatters start as favourites to take all three points, but they were underdogs for five of those road wins and Huddersfield have avoided defeat in five of their last eight home games, winning four and drawing one.  Neither side has many draws on their respective home and away records so maybe they are both overdue a stalemate.

Five of the last seven head-to-head meetings between these clubs that met in the play-off semi-finals last season have finished all square with the Terriers squeezing at narrow wins in the others.

A 1-1 scoreline is the preferred correct score play here as three of those last seven meetings have finished that way.
