The big games are coming thick and fast for Huddersfield at the moment but they’ve been consistently rising to the occasion. Nobody could have expected these two clubs to be in the top four at this stage in the campaign and they both look to be on course for at least a play-off place but overall it is the Terriers who seem to have a little bit more about them and they look the most likely winners here.

David Wagner made his priorities pretty clear when he rested a host of first team regulars for the visit of Man City in the FA Cup at the weekend. However, they still managed to earn a replay, which is testament to the strength in depth in this squad and that can only bode well. At home they’ve been very strong all season with 73% of their home league games ending in victory.

They looked to be getting stronger as the season progresses too. The Terriers have won 10 of their last 12 league games, including all of the last 5 so they come into this match full of confidence. That run also includes home wins over fellow promotion hopefuls Brighton and Leeds so they have no reason to fear Reading. Last season’s top scorer Nahki Wells is one man who is likely to be recalled into the side here and with goals in 4 of his last 8 league appearances, backing Wells to score anytime at 6/4 looks to offer value.

Reading are going well too with no defeat in any of their last 6 games. They haven’t beaten strong opposition as regularly as Huddersfield though, particularly on the road, where they’ve been a bit inconsistent. They’ve won 47% but also lost 40% of their away matches this term in the league. What’s interesting though is that none of their away wins were against sides currently in the top eight. They’ve beaten all of the current bottom four sides away but have been on the wrong end of a few heavy defeats on their travels when they’ve faced the better sides.

That is perhaps what makes Reading a little short on genuine promotion quality and this could be another game where their weaknesses are exposed by strong opponents. Huddersfield are absolutely flying right now and backing Huddersfield to Win at 17/20 looks like the best bet here.
