Huddersfield vs Sheffield United Predictions
- Sheffield United have won their last four Championship games on the spin.
- The Blades have won five of their last seven Championship away games.
- Huddersfield Town have had a lower xG than their opponents in four of their last seven home league games.
Blades have momentum to end Terriers’ unbeaten run
Huddersfield Town’s 13-game unbeaten run will come under serious threat when Sheffield United take bid to extend their four-game winning run at John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.
The Terriers have won seven and drawn six of those games under Carlos Corberan and currently sit fifth in the table, four points better off than the Blades – who have three games in hand.
But Town are coming off one of their least impressive showings of the season at Preston, who dominated and could easily have won 2-0 without any complaints at Deepdale. The Terriers’ xG figure on Tuesday was one of their four worst of the campaign and cannot be repeated if they are to get anything at home to the consistent Blades.
Heckingbottom has been able to keep United fresh
Sheffield United may struggle to maintain the form and energy levels required to sustain their pursuit of the playoff places when asked to play three games in a week as thetr schedule now demands. But Paul Heckingbottom’s side remain relatively fresh right now and he has been able to rotate while still maintaining this winning gallop.
As well as four Championship wins on the spin, including three with clean sheets, United have registered five victories in their last seven away league games. Admittedly, their only away win over a top-half side this season came against a Fulham team that rested Aleksandar Mitrovic and paid the price.
That fact doesn’t put us off backing the visitors at around 6/5 however because putting a series of away wins together in the Championship, an ultra-competitive and unforgiving league by it’s very nature, builds a momentum that can carry teams through until the run is broken. Huddersfield have only conceded more than once in four of their last 14 home games, so taking that into account the correct score bet that appeals most here is a 1-0 away win.
