Hull City to Win

Reason for tip

Hull City have won back-to-back games, scoring seven goals in the process. Meanwhile, Blackburn, who have further issues in defence ahead of the game that will force them into a reshuffle, have lost five of their last seven away Championship matches.

Hull City 2-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in all four of Hull’s home wins this season, three of which have been by 2-1 scorelines. Blackburn are not regular scorers away from home but did get a couple at Middlesbrough last time out and they have not conceded more than twice in any of their last five on the road.

Hull City vs Blackburn Rovers Predictions

  • Blackburn have further issues in defence ahead of the game that will force a reshuffle.
  • Blackburn have lost five of their last seven away Championship matches.

Rovers’ rise could stagnate in Hull

Blackburn’s recent rise to the summit of the Championship was glorious but brief with Hull City in the sort of form to prevent them from repeating it this weekend. The Tigers have won two games in a row – both away from home – and seem to have rediscovered what made them quite good to watch earlier in the season.

Andy Dawson continues to do a good job in interim charge with Saturday’s 4-2 win at Rotherham being his third in six games since Shota Arveladze was shown the door. He could name an unchanged line-up for the third straight game this weekend as Hull bid to re-establish themselves in the top half of the table.

Blackburn still sit pretty in third after being bypassed by Burnley in midweek, but familiar issues have arisen again with injuries forcing Rovers another defensive reshuffle. Ryan Hedges, who was filling in at right wing-back for Callum Brittain, is likely to be ruled out with a muscle injury, which could see Hayden Carter moved from central defence. That, in turn, would mean a change to Rovers’ three-man defensive personnel.

Defensive reshuffle on cards for Tomasson

Jon Dahl Tomasson has not been able to get a settled defensive trio out all season long and it could tip the balance in favour of the hosts here. Hull stunned Blackburn 2-0 in the corresponding fixture last season when underdogs, although they are marginal favourites to claim all three points again.

That’s because the Lancashire club have been more miss than hit on the road this season, losing five of their last seven away Championship games and often failing to score. The team that has registered the first goal has gone on to win all of their 17 league games this term, which suggests the travelling fans could know their fate pretty quickly this Saturday.

Hull have lost four of their last five at home, but have been creating chances. It now seems as though they have found a finisher in Ryan Longman, who has found the back of the net in his last two appearances. A 2-1 Tigers win is taken here as both teams have scored in all four of Hull’s home wins this season, three of which have been by the odd goal in three.
