      Hull vs Birmingham Predictions

The Blues are riding high in 2nd place and along with leaders Brighton have been the surprise package of the opening months in the Championship. They come into this game on the back of four consecutive wins and they have only conceded 1 goal in those matches.

However their opposition hasn’t exactly been fierce and they’ve perhaps played clubs at the right time. Their win at Brentford came on a day of huge upheaval at Griffin Park with a manager coming and going while they played out-of-form Leeds just prior to the sacking of Uwe Rosler. Since then they’ve beaten QPR who have been really poor of late and won 1-0 at bottom club Bolton in midweek.

It wouldn’t be fair to say Birmingham have just been lucky but their current standing in the automatic promotion positions is probably a false one and it would be a huge surprise if they are still there come May.

Less so for Hull City who will certainly provide the Blues with a much tougher challenge than they’ve faced in recent weeks. The Tigers secured their most convincing win of the season in midweek with a 3-0 home triumph against Ipswich and of the relegated clubs they look the best equipped to bounce straight back to the top flight.

They are unbeaten in 8 home matches this season, winning 6 of them and they’ve only conceded 3 goals in the process. Therefore despite Birmingham’s purple patch you have to fancy Steve Bruce’s men to get the better of this game and you can back them to do so at 8/11.

Birmingham do have the joint best goalscoring record in the Championship though and they have scored in all of their last 8 away games in the league so an away goal seems likely here but you can back the hosts to dish out a reality check to the Blues with a 2-1 win at 15/2.
