Hull vs Manchester City Predictions
Hull will feel rightly disappointed in their 1-0 defeat at West Ham last weekend. The out of form visitors hit the post numerous times and fully deserved something from the game, but the luck of the draw isn’t with them at the moment.
This loss made it seven games on the bounce without a win in normal time, with their only positive result being a rather undeserved penalty victory over Newcastle in the League Cup.
Unsurprisingly this sort of form has left them in a dangerous position in the Premier League. They sit bottom of the table with just 12 points from their first 17 games, and they are already three points off safety.
At home Hull are marginally better, and a 3-3 draw against Crystal Palace in their last match made it four games on the trot unbeaten at the KCOM Stadium. They have won three, drawn two, and lost four of their home games in all competitions this season.
Manchester City produced an excellent second half performance to come back from a goal behind and beat Arsenal. This made it back to back wins for the first time since the start of November, but they remain in 3rd position and seven points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
Their overall Premier League form is rather disappointing with five wins, three draws, and three defeats from their last 12 matches, but away from home it doesn’t look so bad. Manchester City have won six and lost two of their last eight away games in the league, scoring 19 goals and conceding 11 to make for some very entertaining football.
In fact, Manchester City have kept just one Premier League clean sheet on the road all season, failing to score just once as well. Hull have scored in six of their nine at home, but have conceded in all nine of them.
The hosts should get a good few chances of finding the net against this lacklustre Manchester City defence, but I definitely can’t see them keeping a clean sheet. Even with Sergio Aguero out suspended the visitors pose a huge threat going forward. Raheem Sterling has been vastly improved under Pep Guardiola, and with his five league goals this season and Hull struggling to defend against skillful opposition, backing him to score anytime at 8/5 looks a good choice for our goalscorer predictions.
Overall I think that neither defence will keep a clean sheet, so I’m backing Both Teams to Score at 10/11 alongside a 3-1 win for Manchester City at 11/1 for my correct score predictions.
