Hull vs Reading Predictions
Hull have lost some ground on their main promotion rivals after a few below-par showings in recent weeks. They had lost 3 games in a row in all competitions following a 1-1 draw at Bristol City so their hard-fought 1-0 win against struggling Bolton at the weekend was much needed but they are now 5 points behind 2nd place Brighton.
They could really do with another win here and may be helped by the fact that Reading still haven’t confirmed the return of Brian Mcdermott as their new manager even though it has been widely muted to be imminent for close to a week now. The uncertainty won’t be helpful to anyone so it is likely Martin Kuhl will again take charge of the side here as he did at the weekend when the Royals lost their 3rd league game in succession at Preston.
It is just 1 win in 9 for Reading and that came against the division’s bottom club so it’s hard to feel too confident about their chances of getting anything here. Despite their recent wobble, Hull have won 10 of their 13 matches at the KC Stadium this season and at 4/5 they are excellent value to pick up another home victory here.
They aren’t quite at their best right now though, certainly in an attacking sense. However their defence is strong enough that they might only need one goal to win this. Hull have only let in 6 goals in their 13 home games and 2 of those came in the defeat to Derby when they were missing two of their first-choice defenders.
The goals have dried up a bit for Reading and particularly striker Nick Blackman, who was leading the Championship scoring charts at one point with 9 goals but has failed to add to his tally since October.
Therefore a slender home win looks likely and you can back Hull to win 1-0 at odds of 5/1.
