Hungary vs Albania Predictions

  • Hungary have averaged two goals per game across their six qualifiers so far.
  • However, Marco Rossi’s men have also leaked ten goals, maintaining just one clean sheet.
  • Albania have scored in nine of their last 11 internationals including five of their last six outside of Tirana.

Open contest likely as hosts chase three points

These sides played out a tight contest in Tirana last month but we’re expecting this Saturday’s clash at Ferenc Puskas Arena to be far more open as hosts Hungary chase three points to stay in the hunt for Qatar 2022.

After a strong start to the campaign, things quickly went south for the Hungarians in the last international break, as they were walloped 4-0 here by England before a succumbing to a potentially pivotal 1-0 defeat in the Albanian capital.

Those results have left Hungary fourth in the section where they sit two points behind their opponents this Saturday, and another loss for Marco Rossi’s side in Budapest will surely put them out of the qualifying reckoning.

At around evens, the hosts are easily passed over for this tie based on their poor recent performances, which were somewhat surprising considering their fine effort at Euro 2020 this summer.

Albania have won four of their six Group I games, though three of those victories have been against San Marino and Andorra, while they’ve been soundly beaten by Czech Republic (3-1) and Poland (4-1) on their recent travels.

We can be pretty sure of goals in Budapest with Hungary netting a dozen in their six qualifiers and only keeping one clean sheet at the other end of the field. Meanwhile, Albania have bagged in nine of their last 11 starts including five of their last six starts outside of Tirana.

BTTS gets our vote as a result for what’s set to be a thrilling affair at Ferenc Puskas Arena, where the spoils could be shared via a 2-2 draw.
