Hungary vs Azerbaijan Predictions
Hungary lost 3-0 at Croatia and ended the game with ten-men in midweek, while Azerbaijan toppled Bahrain in a five-goaller thriller of a friendly which put an end to their run of seven games without a win.
All of the stats suggest that will see both teams score on Sunday and we’ve backed Hungary to claim another 3-1 win against Azerbaijan.
Hungary have won all of their six previous encounters with Azerbaijan and both teams scored when these two teams met in June, where Hungary ran out 3-1 winners. Sunday’s hosts have scored three or more team goals in five of their six games against Azerbaijan, winning 3-0, 3-1, 4-0, 3-0, and 3-1 since the pair first met in 1996, so you can see why we’re backing a 3-1 win for Hungary this weekend.
The form of both countries heading into Sunday’s match only adds weight to our prediction of a home win, as Hungary have won three of their last six international matches, while Azerbaijan have lost three of their last. However, both Hungary and Azerbaijan have only managed to keep one clean sheet in their last six attempts, and that’s why we’re backing both teams to score this weekend.
The performances of both nations in recent qualifiers and friendlies also suggest that we will see goals at both ends of the pitch on Sunday, as both teams scored in four of Hungary’s last six and each of Azerbaijan’s last five matches. Hungary might have lost their last three matches against Croatia, Slovakia, and Montenegro, but Sunday’s hosts clearly have the better of the two squads and the home advantage against an Azerbaijan side that have only beaten low ranked European countries such as San Marino and the Faroe Islands during the last two years.
We’re confident that both teams will score on Sunday and have predicted a final scoreline of 3-1 in favour of Hungary. The hosts have won all of their previous matches against Azerbaijan and we’re expecting more of the same this weekend. Hungary are in need of a victory and will be viewing this game as a ‘must-win’ as far as their qualification campaign goes, and they stand every chance against an Azerbaijan side that are steadily improving but remain a class below the Hungarians.
