We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Hungary 4-2 @ 175/1

Reason For Hungary vs Serbia Predictions

  • Hungary have won four of their last five internationals (D1) including a 0-1 success in Serbia last month.
  • Serbia have won none of their last seven outings inside 90 minutes (D5, L2).
  • The hosts won through their Euro 2020 Play-Off against Iceland in midweek, while Serbia lost on penalties to Scotland.

Hungary to Thrive on Midweek Success

A Norbert Konyves goal separated these two sides in Belgrade last month and Hungary are tipped to win through again when the sides meet in Budapest this weekend, following their dramatic midweek Euro 2020 Play-Off triumph against Iceland.

The Hungarians netted twice in the final minutes on Thursday to book their spot at next summer’s finals – a qualification of extra importance considering Puskas Arena is one of the host venues for the delayed competition.

Marco Rossi’s side may well have been celebrating their success in the immediate aftermath, but they should also be in buoyant mood when they take to the pitch this Sunday. The same perhaps can’t be said for Serbia, who suffered contrasting fortunes three days ago with a penalty defeat to Scotland at home.

And it really is difficult to see how Serbia can get themselves up for this one. They’re bottom of this section with just two points on the board and they have failed to win any of their last seven internationals inside 90 minutes (D5, L2).

Desperate form and Thursday’s events should see them succumb to Hungary once more and the hosts are excellent value at just under 2/1 considering they have won four of their last five outings including their aforementioned victory in Belgrade last month.

We can potentially expect a more open contest this time though after the intensity of the sides’ midweek games and such a short turnaround. Serbia’s last six away matches have featured over 2.5 goals with both teams scoring in five, while over 2.5 and both teams to score has landed in four of Hungary’s last five at home. So with Hungary supported for the win and an open encounter likely, we’re also chancing a 4-2 correct score at mammoth odds.
