      Iceland vs Latvia Predictions

Iceland really have surprised everybody, upsetting everyone in their path to lead Group A of the Euro 2016 qualifiers with just two games remaining.

They have already booked their place in the finals next summer, but still need to fend off the Czech Republic for the top spot.

They sit with a total of 19 points, level with the Czechs but holding a better goal difference. This has come from victories over teams such as Turkey, Netherlands, and Czech Republic, and it is thanks to them that the Netherlands have little chance of qualifying for the finals after a dismal showing in this campaign.

Their last match was a disappointment though. They could only manage a goalless draw at home to bottom of the group Kazakhstan, this coming after a more than impressive win away to the Netherlands.

But they will be confident of securing a better result against a Latvia who lost 3-0 to them at home in their second group match.

It didn’t get much better than that for the Latvians either. They have lost three and drawn three of their following six games, putting their points tally on just four points from eight matches.

They did manage to take two points from Turkey in their two games though, and also battled to a 1-1 draw in the Czech Republic.

Three of Latvia’s four draws in this qualifying campaign have come away from home, making it three draws in their four games on the road. These haven’t been against poor opposition either, with both Czech Republic and Turkey failing to beat them in their home ground.

The fact that Iceland couldn’t manage to beat Kazakhstan last time out will give Latvia a great amount of hope for this game, as that was only Kazakhstan’s second point in the group.

I still think that Iceland have a good chance of winning, but the bookies are favouring them too muh in my opinion. Latvia have stood their ground on the road, and I think that odds of 10/3 for a draw on Saturday are just too good to turn down.
