Inter Milan vs Barcelona Predictions
- Barcelona had 72% possession and outshot Inter 19-7 in the first leg.
- Barcelona have won nine of their last ten competitive away games.
- Inter Milan have only won one of their last six matches.
Nerazzurri fortunate to draw in Spain
Barcelona and Inter Milan served up one of the games of the season in Catalunya last week, but the Spanish giants were by far the better side in that 3-3 draw, and should be able to make their quality count at the San Siro.
Hansi Flick’s side had over 70% of the ball, outshot their opponents 19 to seven, and hit the target nine times compared to Inter Milan’s three.
It was the fifth successive game that the Nerazzurri had failed to win, and, while a much-changed side did scrape victory over Verona to keep their Serie A title hopes, the Blaugrana will take more confidence from their recent run.
Quadruple dreams solidifying for the Blaugrana
Like Tuesday’s hosts, Barca rotated heavily in their meeting with Real Valladolid on Saturday, coming from behind to stay on track for the La Liga title.
That made it 23 wins from their last 30 competitive games and, having already lifted the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, dreams of an unprecedented quadruple, which would better the trebles they won in 2009 and 2015, are becoming more realistic.
Torres can make the difference at the San Siro
Barcelona have won nine of their last ten away games, and their dominance in the first leg makes them good value to triumph in Milan on Tuesday, especially with star striker Lautaro Martinez expected to miss out after picking up a thigh injury in Spain.
Inter Milan’s three-goal haul in Catalunya last week came from just three shots on target, and they have failed to score in three of their last five. Two of these were 1-0 defeats, while Barcelona have won two of their last four on the road by a 1-0 scoreline, making that the best correct score option.
Ferran Torres scored Barcelona’s second goal in the first leg and was afforded a rest against Real Valladolid on Saturday. He has scored in five of his last seven starts for the club and has netted eight times in his last 13 outings, with six of those appearances coming off the bench. He looks a firm favourite in the anytime goalscorer market.
