Two of Europe’s form teams clash in the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday as Inter Milan entertain Porto.

Goals could be in short supply

Inter Milan’s strong home form has been built on an exceptional defensive record and they have conceded just six goals in 12 Serie A games at the San Siro, while they only shipped two goals at home during the group stages of this competition despite being drawn with Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Porto are Portugal’s clean sheet specialists and they have conceded just once in their last eight away games in all competitions. The Dragoes also managed two clean sheets in three away games in the group stages and they only conceded seven goals in total in those games – four of which came in a shocking 4-0 loss at home to Club Brugge.

With both of these teams looking rock solid at the back, goals could be at a premium and under 2.5 goals appeals as the main bet.

Porto can cause an upset

A tight game is expected and one goal may be enough to win this first leg, and Porto may just be able to claim the initiative ahead of a second leg in Portugal.

The Portuguese outfit are just about the team in better form as Inter have dropped points against Empoli (a home defeat) and Sampdoria (a 0-0 draw) recently, and Porto have a good recent record against Italian teams in this competition.

Porto had the better of AC Milan in the group stages last season with four points from two games and they eliminated Juventus at this stage two years ago. So a 1-0 win for the visitors has a chance in the correct score market.
