      Newcastle 2-1

      Reason for tip

Key Ipswich absences look set to affect the home side and with eight of Newcastle’s last 11 league away games featuring more than two goals, a 2-1 away win looks attractive

      Ipswich vs Newcastle Predictions

      • Ipswich have yet to win at home in the Premier League this season
      • Newcastle have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 away league games
      • Eight of Newcastle’s last 11 away league matches have featured at least three goals

      Plenty of concerns for McKenna

Ipswich have shown signs of life in recent weeks with away wins at Tottenham and Wolves, but the fact they have yet to taste victory at Portman Road since promotion must be a huge concern for manager Kieran McKenna.

The Tractor Boys boss will be hopeful that last week’s late win at Molineux will galvanise his hopefuls, but it is difficult to have much faith in a team who have scored more than once in just one of their eight league home games this term.

The Suffolk outfit have not been disgraced so far this season after gaining successive promotions, but they will be hampered by the suspension of top goalscorer Liam Delap, who picked up a fifth yellow card of the campaign in a fractious end to events at Wolves last week.

With Sammie Szmodics also out, there will be no player in McKenna’s line-up who has scored more than once goal this season, and that should be a heft handicap against Newcastle and tips the match in the Magpies’ favour.

Magpies may have turned the corner

Newcastle have shown flashes of potential this season, but they are not the only team in the top flight who have been plagues by inconsistency.

However, a couple of decent performances in wins over Leicester and Ipswich will leave Magpies boss Eddie Howe feeling his team could be about to turn the corner after they had failed to win any of their previous four games.

They have claimed victories at Wolves and Nottingham Forest this term, which may seem little to write home about, but they have failed to notch in just one of their eight games on their travels.

The manner in which they put another promoted team to the sword with a 4-0 win over the Foxes last week will mean they are in good spirits for their visit to Portman Road, so expect them to come out on top with both teams scoring, with a 2-1 away victory the correct-score selection.

      Isak has his eye in

Those looking for an anytime-goalscorer option should look no further than Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

The Sweden forward has firmly found his feet in the Premier League this season, finding the net in six of his last eight league appearances, including each of his last three.

He has had multiple goal efforts in 11 of his 14 league starts this season and should be confident that he can make his mark against the Tractor Boys.
