Yeovil pushing for promotion

Successive defeats to Torquay have dented Yeovil’s hopes of a return to the Football League, but they still sit just eight points behind fourth placed Dagenham having played three games fewer.

The Glovers have won five of their nine away matches, including recent victories at Wrexham, Bromley and Dagenham, while of their seven league defeats, only one came against a side in the bottom half of the table.

Darren Sarll’s side also gave Bournemouth a bit of a scare in the FA Cup on Saturday, only losing 3-1 to a team ranked three tiers higher.

Southend battling against the drop

In their eight games at Roots Hall this season, Southend have picked up just 10 points, already suffering four defeats.

Of those ten points, only one has come against a side in the top half of the table, while in their 20 matches home and away, they have only beaten one team who sit above 12th.

Kevin Maher’s side have lost five of their last ten, failing to score in four of those games, and this will be another tricky test for them.

Yeovil have one of the best points per game ratios in away fixtures this year and I think they have a strong chance of improving that in this fixture.
