Tip Reasoning

  • Ipswich have avoided defeat in nine of their ten League One home games since Paul Cook took charge (Won 3, Drawn 6).
  • Sheffield Wednesday have lost their last two League One away games without scoring a goal.
  • Macauley Bonne has scored five goals in his first six games for Ipswich, including Saturday’s winner at Lincoln.

Macauley can make mischief in home from home

Macauley Bonne’s return on loan to the club where it all began for him is working out very well so far and the Zimbabwe hitman’s five goals in six games make him a superb anytime goalscorer play against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

And there are signs that Paul Cook’s massive summer overhaul of under-achieving Ipswich Town might just be about to bear fruit too.

The ex-Wigan and Portsmouth boss has always been synonymous with proud home records and clean sheets, only one of which he had been able to instil in this Town team since his arrival in March.

A nine-game unbeaten home streak was ended in spectacular style by Bolton’s 5-2 win at Portman Road, but Ipswich plugged those defensive holes to bounce back with a 1-0 win at Lincoln in their very next league game.

We feel they are a bit big to make it consecutive league wins against a Wednesday side that have lost on their last two road trips without finding the net.

Darren Moore felt his side should have beaten Shrewsbury on Saturday, but that makes it three games without a win now in this unrelenting division.

Momentum plays a big part in this league and we feel Ipswich have more of it coming into this clash at Portman Road – enough to get a 2-1 win that would match the scoreline from three of their past six home meetings with the Owls.
