Italy vs Lithuania Predictions
- Italy have won nine of their 14 matches in 2021 (Drawing the other five in 90 mins).
- Lithuania have lost their last eight matches.
- Italy have led at half-time in half of their games this year.
- Lithuania have been behind at half-time in five of their last eight matches.
Lithuania’s losing run to continue in Italy
Italy broke the world record by avoiding defeat for the 36th game on the bounce at the weekend, but Roberto Mancini wasn’t happy at all.
Jorginho missed a penalty as the Azzurri drew 0-0 against a weakened Swiss side in Basel, but the visitors missed several other good chances to score.
Mancini and skipper Giorgio Chiellini both felt Italy did enough to deserve a 3-0 win, but the luck just isn’t falling for the European champions right now.
A visit from Group C minnows Lithuania should see them right, however, as Rinktine are in the midst of an eight-game losing streak that is unlikely to end in Reggio nell’Emilia on Wednesday.
Finding favourable odds for a positive Italy result isn’t easy, especially as Mancini’s men have a tendency to go into game management mode once they are more than one goal in front.
But Lithuania have conceded the first goal in all of their 2021 fixtures to date and we rate the chances of the Azzurri sticking an early one in their net this week.
The hosts will surely be keen to avoid the shock they were given when Bulgaria, who had scored one goal in their previous ten aways, grabbed an equaliser in Florence in their post-Euro 2020 homecoming match.
So we are backing Italy to go in search of the goals they should have scored in their two matches over this break and return a 3-0 win for their fans.
