Italy vs San Marino Predictions
- San Marino have suffered 107 defeats and earned just two draws since they last won an international against Liechtenstein in April 2004.
- La Serenissima have shipped 63 goals in their last 15 outings.
- Italy won 8-0 when the sides last met in May 2017.
Mancini’s squad to put La Serenissima to the sword
Italy aren’t always the most ruthless of teams in terms of putting much weaker sides to the sword, though they should smash several goals past San Marino in Sardinia on Friday night.
This is the first of two warm-up games for Gli Azzurri ahead of their big Euro 2020 curtain raiser against Turkey on 11th June and with a much sterner work-out set to be posed by the Czech Republic in Bologna next week, boss Roberto Mancini may use this 90 minutes to utilise some of his squad players.
That’s likely to lead to a big win for the hosts as a number of names seek to impress and force their way into the first eleven reckoning, so backing the Italians at -5 on the handicap looks a solid bet.
Gli Azzurri have been nothing more than efficient in recent outings, with five consecutive 2-0 victories posted over the likes of Lithuania and Bulgaria, but it would be a big surprise if Friday’s fixture didn’t yield more goals.
The hapless visitors have drawn just twice and lost on 107 occasions since beating Liechtenstein 1-0 in April 2004, while they’ve shipped 63 goals in their last 15 outings.
As such, the Italians should comfortably afford La Serenissima a five goal start and we’re also forecasting a 7-0 correct score in favour of Mancini’s side.
