World Cup preparations get underway

Hajime Moriyasu’s men are eagerly awaiting the start of their World Cup match. Although, they have been drawn in a tough group that contains Costa Rica, Germany and Spain. It would take something special for them to qualify for the group but a win here in their final match could do wonders for their confidence. They have been solid defensively of late but this side boasts an abundance of creativity and they’ll feel confident of getting on the scoresheet.

Just six of the Canada squad are aged 30 or over as boss John Herdman looks to prioritise nurturing youth ahead of the World Cup campaign. It’s a risky move but Les Rouges have already shown that they are capable of causing problems in transition. They’ve failed to win any of their last two outings but they still created plenty of goal-scoring opportunities and they can cause a few headaches for Japan.
